Filming with Charlie
Today was another day doing what I like best – filming. This time it was with Charlie G for his Year 2 FMP. Yet again I was acting but I was also able to assist with setting up cameras and equipment, especially my slider which several of our group have used. It is a very useful piece of kit. It gives an alternative to totally stationary shots without the shake of handheld. Also, it is not as complicated to set up as stabilisers and gimbals, although I still intend to get one of those when I am able to go and test some out.
It was fun filming with Charlie. He had put a lot of thought into his production. He had prepared props, and thought about the locations.
I have enjoyed being able to make a contribution to 4 of my friends FMPs. I have been pleased to be asked, and it is always interesting seeing how others direct.
I am aware of so many different directing styles in the Film Industry and I am developing my own. A key point that I feel strongly about is being courteous. I think you always get the best out of people if you are polite and work with them not against them. I can see that most roles in the Film/TV Industry are stressful, so I imagine this will be a challenging aim, but I intend to try.
